Veracity began work in the creation of VIOLETS’ self-titled EP in 2012 with beats from ghost producer Bog Oak. The tracks are an investigation of the color violet and its many meanings and shades. The industrial and whirring beats by Bog Oak sync dissonantly with Veracity’s brazen melodic lyrics to create imagistic aural poems designed to communicate the synesthetic aesthetic. VIOLETS EP’s bleed of trip-hop/folk is spooky and sexy. The song "SON OF A" features drummer Kyle Clairmont Jacques, of Widowspeak, METH, & BEEF. The song "FORTUNATO" features saxophonist Ian Young, of The Yeah Yeah Yeahs & M83. VIOLETS welcomes performance artists to participate: showcasing interpretive dance during live shows. Performers Sarah Adam, Matthew Bovee, Kana Hatakeyama, Kate Hess, Tedra Millan, Akyiaa Wilson and Lizzy Zevallos have worked with VIOLETS. Currently, VIOLETS is working on more material with more artists.
BRAND NEW RELEASE OF SON OF A MUSIC VIDEO
Veracity’s Berber grandma created the mantra for SON OF A.
The release of VIOLETS’ first music video for the single “HONOR KILLING” had great reception in the Ukraine and United Arab Emirates, garnering 38,000+ international views. HONOR KILLING is an anthem denouncing domestic violence. As artists we must speak for those who don’t have voices-- in this case our sisters around the world who live in fear of abuse and prejudice that is based solely on sex.
